for all the bonsai lovers out there?
I recently purchased a "Ficus Nightingale" only a few years old. I was wondering what style would best fit it's nature. Are there any tips for taking care of it?( It has 5 trunks easily seperated to become indivisual trees ) I have a ficus wiandii(sp) and have it in a informal upright style.
Ficus are difficult to train after the first year because they tend to get too brittle for much wiring. In my experience (15 years) it is best to let them take their own form and just refine them using the the clip & grow method. You could separate the trunks of the nightingale, but a multi-trunk specimen is really a thing of beauty! At any rate, keep them above 50 degrees year round and mist the foliage daily between waterings!
