how to water my bonsai?
I got a little bonsai tree as a present, I'm not sure but I think it's Fukien Tea. It is going to be kept indoor, in a room with plenty of light, but not direct sunlight. How do I water it-how much, how often?
You are in for a challenge with this Bonsai. Fukien Tea (Carmona microphylla) is a fairly temperamental plant that is not very forgiving of lapses in care. If you keep it indoors, it must be on your sunniest windowsill. Outdoors it needs light shade, but indoors where the light intensity is much lower it needs direct sun for most of the day.
Your Bonsai will need water as soon as the surface of the soil feels dry. In warm, dry air that could be daily. But you will have to check the soil every day to determine this.
Try to provide cooler temps to about 60 degrees F. in the fall and at night, if possible. Increased humidity in the winter months is also helpful.
